Is red really the colour of love? A 2009 study in the US has found that men are indeed more attracted to scarlet women (we’re referring to their clothes only here, of course!). But if a red dress is too much for you, why not join Club Red with luscious ruby lips instead and say farewell to boring safe nude. US psychologists Professor Andrew Elliot and Dr Daniela Niesta of the University of Rochester conducted a “red alert” study on 100 men. The men were asked to view images of women picture framed in red and various other colours, some dressed in red and others not. They were then asked to rate how pretty the women were, how much they would like to kiss the women and how sexually attractive they found. And yes, it’s a fact – men found the women in red more attractive and even said they would spend more money on them.
Our tip: you can get too much of a good thing. A choice has to be made – red dress or lipstick, unless you’re on the red carpet, in which case all bets are off!
