Miss Lipstick: Tan through swimwear

, Prev Next

Unless you're a fan of nudist beaches, you undoubtedly suffer from those irritating tan lines after a day in the sun. They're a sure-fire way to ruin the look of your pretty summer dress come evening. Well, it seems swimwear company Kiniki is keen to monetise this summertime hiccup with its new Tan Through range.

VIEW GALLERY: Guess the celebrity bum!

Indiscernible to the naked eye, the bikinis and swimmers don't show the skin underneath, but allow UV through the fabric. The Kiniki range is created from a mesh-like material which allows 80 percent of sunlight thought. Luckily, "Tan Through" isn't see-through! The garments have a magic-eye effect so they appear to be solid blocks of material. Alas, we haven't put the suits to the test so whether they hold up to this promise after a session in the surf remains to be seen.

From a beauty point of view, we think the suits are a big no-no. Firstly it's exposing more of your body to harmful UV rays — parts of the body that are less accustomed to sunlight — and, let's face it, applying sunscreen under the material would require the skills of Houdini.

We say, stick to the regular version and keep your hide as safe as possible!

Your say: Do you think a tan-through bikini is a good idea?

I think this is a great idea to get a all over tan. Just slap a bit of p60 on before you head out in the sun and your set for the day with out having to re-apply!!!!!
If you are wearing sunscreen and you do still get a tan it means that you have BURNT and either your sunscreen is past it's expiry date, you have not applied enough or you have not reapplied as required. FAKE DON'T BAKE PEOPLE!
That's the worst "idea come to life" I've heard of in a while.
these were round mid 70's i know because i had a pair way back then maybe i shud try them again lol l
I think they are a great idea, and as for sunscreen? Well you ARE supposed to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going into the sun anyway...
