If you have a wedding or special occasion coming up, you want your skin to glow. Here, SenSana Spa by Babor spa manager, Erin Rimmer, spills her top tips and tricks for wedding-worthy skin.
1. Drink two to three litres of water each day to help flush out impurities and hydrate skin from the inside out.
2. Have regular monthly facials, six months prior to your wedding. "A treatment such as the Babor Collagen Biomatrix is ideal to have three days before your wedding as it plumps and hydrates, leaving your skin radiant," says Rimmer.
3. Visit a beauty salon for a correct skin diagnoses. "Your therapist will prescribe the most suitable homecare regime to ensure any skincare concerns you have are improved before the big day," she explains. "Ensure your routine consists of a cleanser to remove dirt and oil."
4. Start an exercise routine six months before your wedding. It's not only beneficial to get your body into shape, but it also helps with skin oxygenation, which in turn helps with a sluggish lymphatic system. Rimmer says this will help promote a radiant complexion.
5. Include an exfoliation treatment into your beauty routine, using it up to twice a week. This will help remove dead skin and clear pores to prevent unsightly "lumps and bumps" under the skin's surface. Rimmer suggests: Babor Mild Peeling, $43.
6. A good spray tan is a must for the big day! If you're scared it may not be the right colour for you, have a trial three to four weeks before the big day. When it comes to the week of the big day, have your spay tan one to three days beforehand to ensure it doesn't fade too quickly. Tip: don't forget to exfoliate well before the tan is applied.
7. Wear sunscreen. "It's vital to find a 30+, non-greasy SPF that can be worn on your wedding day," explains Rimmer. "Wearing sunscreen will prevent wrinkles, pigmentation and sun spots."
8. One of the best ways to improve circulation, reduce body pimples and get rid of rough, dry skin is to invest in a dry body brush and use it a few times a week. Starting at your feet, work upwards brushing in circular motions until you reach your décolletage. "This will also prevent 'skin tags' which women tend to develop as they get older", says Rimmer. "It will also improve cellulite."
