- 1. Protect legs against dryness during winter by shaving regularly. The natural exfoliation that occurs during shaving will help keep skin soft and glowing.
- 2. Skin tends to be dryer in the Winter months, use a moisture-rich shave gel such as Gillette Satin Care Alluring Avocado to prepare hair and skin for shaving.
- 3. It's important to lock in moisture after shaving. Apply a rich moisturiser after shaving to help prevent dry flaky skin.
Even though you may not shave your legs as often during winter, there are still certain spots that require extra attention. Underarms and the bikini area need attention all year round and differ from legs not only in the number of square centimetres shaved, but also in the direction of hair growth and the moisture content of the skin. Follow these tips to maintain smooth, hair-free skin in these areas all year round.
Underarms
Wash underarms with soap and warm water to remove razor-clogging oils and anti-perspirant deodorant and deodorant residue.
Apply a moisture-rich shave gel such as Gillette Satin Care for Women to the underarm area.
To make sure you remove even hard-to-reach hairs, lift your arm high and straight above your head while shaving. This pulls skin taut, eliminating the creases where hair may hide.
Use a razor designed for the different curves of a woman's body such as Gillette Venus Embrace with 5 blades surrounded by a ribbon of moisture to provide a close and comfortable shave.
Underarm hair grows in different directions, so shave from all angles to ensure a close, smooth shave.
Rinse with cool water to close pores and pat dry.
If you have sensitive skin, wait several minutes before applying an anti-perspirant or deodorant to freshly-shaven underarms.
Bikini Area
Shaving the bikini area presents unique challenges women don't face when removing hair from legs and underarms. But shaving the bikini area doesn't have to be difficult if you follow a few simple pointers:
Since skin in the bikini area is particularly sensitive, always soften hair in warm water before you shave, and use a razor with a lubrastrip or ribbon of moisture. To help further soften hair and ensure razor glide on ultra-sensitive skin, be sure to use a moisture rich shave gel.
Legs are easier to shave because the skin is usually level and taut. When shaving the bikini area, pull the skin back to create the same taut effect. Venus Embrace has an ergonomically designed handle with a soft gel that provides increased control which is ideal for hard-to-reach places like the bikini area.
To prevent the regrowing coarser hairs of the bikini area from curling under the skin's surface and causing itchy, red bumps, be sure to shave with gentle strokes in the direction that is most comfortable for you.
The lighter the touch you use, the better the shave you will get. A fresh blade and plenty of shave gel will allow you to exert less pressure. If you have to go over an area twice, reapply shave gel first.
After shaving, rinse with cool water to close the pores. Pat dry and apply a light dusting of talcum powder.
