As the much-anticipated sequel to Twilight, New Moon is about to grace the big screen, we thought we'd let you in on a new vampire-inspired beauty treatment that is storming the world of cosmetic surgery.
The blood-sucking procedure has been dubbed "Dracula Therapy" because it involves extracting a person's own blood and injecting it into their face. This reportedly helps to repair and hydrate the skin, increasing the skin's brightness and radiance and healing scaring, resulting in a more youthful-looking appearance.
The technical term for the procedure is stimulated self serum skin therapy or S3 therapy so don't ask your plastic surgeon for the "Dracula Therapy", just in case fangs appear.
The doctor behind the research is London-based Dr Daniel Sister. According to the Paris-trained doctor, the procedure involves drawing test tubes of your own blood from under your arm, which is immediately centrifuged for five minutes to promote stimulation of cellular growth. The blood is then separated in the serum from the red cells, immediately stimulated with amino acids and is reinjected into the face, hand or whichever area of the skin is being treated.
Like most plastic surgery procedures it doesn't come cheap and needs a top up every four to six months to maintain results.
