Chanel's iconic No 5 has been unveiled as the best perfume to attract a date, coming in at number one on a survey by online health and beauty retailer Superdrug. The survey of 3000 women found one in 10 met the man of their dreams, yes "the one", when wearing Chanel's fifth formulation.
Now dubbed as the perfume to pull, this best-selling fragrance from the 1920s has adorned Hollywood beauties for decades. A-list devotees include Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tatou, Keira Knightley, and of course the beautiful Coco Chanel herself.
Even Marilyn Monroe was a huge fan. When asked what perfume she wore the screen siren replied, "Why, Chanel No 5, of course," the Daily Mail reported. So it's no surprise Chanel No 5 is the key fragrance to unlocking hearts.
This legendary scent even has the stamp with approval from our mothers and grandmothers who have worn it for decades. Maybe that explains the swinging '60s.
For those of you who are not familiar with the history of the house of Chanel, the number five signifies good luck to the fashion icon and continues a tradition established by Coco Chanel.
"I launch my dress collection on the fifth of May, the fifth month of the year, so leave it to the number that it bears and this will bring it good luck," Coco once said.
