Road test: Estée Lauder's Skincare Cabine's Stone Thermo Therapy facial.
Aim: To balance and destress the skin while simultaneously utilising the ancient Native American system of energy and meditation.
What happens: After a consultation with a therapist, products designed to target your needs (such as hydration, ageing etc) are used to cleanse and prepare the skin. The massage is carried out with stones of different temperatures, which claim to induce a state of positive energy. The alternation between heated basalt stones and cold marble stones is said to help eliminate toxins and improve blood circulation. It's also claimed that tension and stress is relieved by balancing the chakras, inducing a state of positive well-being. The 30-minute treatment is finished with an appropriate moisturiser.
Cost: $50, redeemable with the purchase of Estée Lauder products.
The bottom line: "I've never had a facial like this before, so it certainly scores 10 points for originality. It was both relaxing and beneficial to my skin. I loved the hot stones on my face and while the cold ones were mighty chilly, they were strangely relaxing as well." Bree, Your Beauty Spot beauty ed.
