Road test: Sebastian Professional Laminates Cellophanes in-salon protein colour treatment.
Aim: To give hair a brilliant shine. The manufacturer claims it does this by using pure, natural colour pigments that are "safely" deposited on the hair. The botanical proteins in the treatment are said to be infused into the hair with heat to seal in the colour and strength.
What happens: After hair is washed to remove dirt, oil and any product build-up, the product (which is available in nine shades, plus a clear option) is applied just like a colour is. The hair is sectioned, and the treatment is painted on root to tips to ensure an even coverage. The product is left on while heat is applied to the hair for 20 minutes, and it's then rinsed off, and hair is ready to be styled. It's recommended that Laminates Cellophanes shampoos ($30.50) and conditioners ($32.50) are used after your treatment to prolong the life of your colour at home. The treatment will eventually wash out.
